FATE.....

There was a scholar who was to marry his fiancee, but on the day of marriage, his fiancee changed her mind and married someone else. The scholar was devastated and fell ill. His family seek all kinds of medical treatment for him, but still he showed no sign of recovery. They were
about to give up hope on him when a wandering monk passed by. After learning about the scholar's condition, the monk walked to the scholar's bed and took out a mirror for the dying man to see.

In the mirror, the scholar saw a vast ocean, and the naked body of a murdered woman lay on the beach. A man passed by, looked at the body, shook his head and left. Another man who passed by saw the body, took off his robes to cover the body and left.

Finally came a man passing by who saw the body, dug a hole and laid the body carefully to rest before burying it. The scene in the mirror suddenly changed. The scholar saw his fiancee in a nuptial chamber and another man was lifting her wedding veil... The scholar blinked at the monk,
confused. Slowly the monk explained,

"The woman whose body you saw on the beach was your fiancee in her previous life. In your previous life, you were the second man who gave her his robes to cover her body. To repay your kindness in this lifetime, she loved you for a period of time and became your fiancee. However, ultimately the man whose favor she has to return for the rest of her life is the third man who
buried her. And that man is now her husband."

Enlightened, the scholar sat up and recovered from his dispression. It is truly amazing -- this thing called "Fate". There was a movie in which the theme song went like this: "You can say it is a big world, you can say it is a small world. But for the promise of this lifetime, we shall spend our entire lives to fulfil."

All of us are in this big grand masquerade, among the throng of people, we seek expectantly... in that electrifying moment when our fingers touch, the masks are removed to reveal our true selves. Before this moment, we were drifting aimlessly, not knowing what we really wanted. Till you meet this particular person, you finally realize what you really want is not what you have wished for in the first place. It amazes you that standing in front of this person is a different you! You without any mask!

Fate is not something meant to be forced upon. What is yours Will eventually come to your arms; what is not yours will never come to be. In any case, we should not lose heart and give up on our hopes for love that is true, good and beautiful. The value of life, in a certain sense, is
determined by the maturity of how we love. Of how we give and accept love.

Treasure what you have...
                     Time is too slow for those who wait;
                     Too swift for those who fear;
                     Too long for those who grief;
                     Too short for those who rejoice;
                     But for those who love...
                     Time is Eternity!

Fifth Lay Precept: not to use intoxicants.

Keeping the Precepts

Once upon a time a Buddhist lama was traveling in the steppe as a "badarch," a holy man that brings blessings to the nomad families in exchange for food and lodging. It was close to sunset, and he came upon a lone ger [yurt] and some livestock.

As he approached the ger, a young woman came out to greet him. She was the only person living there.

He requested hospitality and she agreed, but said he could stay the night only under one condition. He had to choose to do one of three things. He could drink alcohol, sleep with her, or sacrifice a goat.

Now the last was taboo for lamas since only shamans sacrifice goats. Since all three choices were in some degree sinful, he had a difficult decision. He decided that drinking alcohol would be the least harmful.

He drank the alcohol, and while he was drunk, fed up with its bleating, he killed the goat.  When he woke up the next morning,  he found himself in bed with his hostess.

He then learned that drinking alcohol is a small sin but it can easily make a man do bad things under its influence.

The Worm

There is a wonderful little story about two monks who lived together in a monastery for many years; they were great friends.

Then they died within a few months of one another. One of them got reborn in the heaven realms, the other monk got reborn as a worm in a dung pile. The one up in the heaven realms was having a wonderful time, enjoying all the heavenly pleasures.

But he started thinking about his friend,

"I wonder where my old mate has gone?" So he scanned all of the heaven realms, but could not find a trace of his friend. Then he scanned the realm of human beings, but he could not see any trace of his friend there, so he looked in the realm of animals and then of insects. Finally he found him, reborn as a worm in a dung pile... Wow!

He thought: "I am going to help my friend. I am going to go down there to that dung pile and take him up to the heavenly realm so he too can enjoy the heavenly pleasures and bliss of living in these wonderful realms."

So he went down to the dung pile and called his mate. And the little worm wriggled out and said:

"Who are you?",

"I am your friend. We used to be monks together in a past life, and I have come up to take you to the heaven realms where life is wonderful and blissful."

But the worm said: "Go away, get lost!" "But I am your friend, and I live in the heaven realms," and he described the heaven realms to him.

But the worm said: "No thank you, I am quite happy here in my dung pile. Please go away."

Then the heavenly being thought: "Well if I could only just grab hold of him and take him up to the heaven realms, he could see for himself." So he grabbed hold of the worm and started tugging at him; and the harder he tugged, the harder that worm clung to his pile of dung.

Do you get the moral of the story? How many of us are attached to our pile of dung?

If an egg was fertilized, implantation (when the embryo implants to the lining of her uterus) happens, on average, about 7 days past ovulation.

It can happen as early as five days past ovulation or as late as twelve days past ovulation.

Now is in the phase of cycle where implantation may occur. Although implantation may be visible on her chart (triphasic pattern, dip and/or spotting) it is not always visible even on pregnancy charts. This is the most stressful waiting phase. It is generally too early to test.

The Heart Sutra

The Heart Sutra

(The Prajna-Paramita-Hrdaya Sutra)

When Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara practices the profound Prajna-paramita, he intuitively realizes that the five aggregates (skandhas) are of Sunyata nature thus securing his deliverance from all distress and sufferings.

Sariputra! Form (rupa) does not differ from Sunyata, nor Sunyata from form. Form is identical with Sunyata (and) Sunyata is identical with form. So also are reception (vedana), conception (sanjna), mental conduct (samskara) and consciousness (vijnana) in relation to Sunyata.

Sariputra, the Sunyata nature of all things is neither created nor annihilated; neither impure nor pure; and neither increasing nor decreasing.

Therefore, in Sunyata, there is neither form (rupa), reception (vedana), conception (sanjna), mental conduct (samskara), nor consciousness (vijnana); there is neither eye, ear, nose, tongue, body nor mind; there is neither form, sound, odor, flavor, feeling nor idea; there are no such things as the eighteen realms of sense (dhatus) from the realm of sight up to that of the faculty of mind (vijnana); there are no such things as the twelve links in the chain of existence (nidanas) from ignorance (avidya) with also the end of ignorance up to old age and death (jaramarana) with also the end of old age and death; there are no (such things as) the four noble truths and there is neither Wisdom nor obtainment.

Because of no obtainment, Bodhisattvas who rely on Prajna-paramita, have no hindrance in their minds, and since they have no hindrance, they have no fear, are free from perversive and delusive ideas and attain the Ultimate Nirvana.

All Buddhas of the past, present and future attain the Full Enlightenment (anuttara-samyak-sambodhi) by relying on Prajna-paramita. So we know that Prajna-paramita is the great supernatural Mantra, the great bright, unsurpassed and unequalled Mantra which can truly and without fail wipe out all sufferings.

Therefore, He uttered the Prajna-paramita mantra which reads:

Gate, Gate, Paragate, Parasamgate Bodhi Svaha!

Batam Island

Batam Island, located just 20 kilometers southeast of Singapore, with area around two-third the size of Singapore is one of the largest islands in Indonesia's Riau Archipelago.

If I take a ferry from Singapore Harbourfront center. It will only take me 1 hours and 15mins to reach the ferry point at Batam Island which is known as "Batam Center".

We are planning to go back this weekend (16/17 July). But I pull back and think about it. . . reason ? I duno why.

Maybe I still feel unsafe to leave my youngest brother at home alone over the weekend. Who know whether he will bring his gal friend to stay over night or not ? or some unknown visitors.

Sigh ~ ~  At the same time, if go back to Batam ... what can I do ? Massage again ? Shopping ? Eating ?  hmmmmh...... I wonder which hotel should I stay again this round.

Do you know why are you working so hard ?

On the very first day of the world, God created the cow.

He said to the cow: "Ah Gu (cow), today I have created you. Your job is to go to the field with the farmer all day long. You will provide the energy to pull things. You will also provide milk for people to drink. You are to work all day under the sun. In return, you will only eat grass. For that, you will have a life span of 50 years."

Ah Gu objected.

"What, I work all day in the sun and I get only to eat grass? On top of that, I have to give my milk away? This is tough and you want me to live 50 years? I'll take 20 and you can have the remaining 30 years back."

God agreed.

On the next day, God created the dog. He said to the dog: "Ah Kow (dog), I have created you for a purpose. You are to sit all day by the door of your master's house.
Should anyone come in, you are to bark at them. In return, you will eat your master's leftovers. I'll give you a life span of 20 years."

Ah Kow objected.

" What, I have to sit by the door all day and will need to bark at people, and what do I get? Leftovers. This isn't right, I'll take 10 and you can have the remaining 10 years back."

God agreed again.

On the third day, God created the monkey. He said to the monkey: "Lao Kao (monkey), your job is to entertain people. You will make them laugh, act stupid and make faces. You will also do somersaults and swing on trees to amaze them.
In return, you will get to eat bananas and peanuts. For that, I'll give you 20 years to live."

Naturally the monkey objected.

"This is ridiculous, I gotta make faces and make people laugh? Let's not even come to the part about the trees and somersaults. Tell you what, I'll give 10 years of my life to thank you for my existence and I'll take 10. What do you think?"

God agreed again.

On the forth day, God created humans. God said to the man: "You are my best piece of work, for that, you will only need to sleep, eat, sleep, play, eat, sleep again and do nothing else. You will get to eat all the best things and play with the best toys. All you need to do is enjoy all your life. For this kind of life, I'll give you 20 years."

Just like the rest, the man objected.

"What, all I need to do is relax and enjoy myself and I have only 20 years to live?
Tell you what, you've 30 years back from Ah Gu, 10 years from Ah Kow and another 10 from Lao Kao and you probably don't know what to do with all those lives. Why not I take them all and I'll have 70 years to live?"

God being such good natured, agreed with a smile.

And that is why:

We eat, sleep, play and enjoy for the first 20 years of our lives when we are growing up. Work like a cow for the next 30 to raise our family. Sit outside the door and bark at people for the next 10 when we are retired. And finally, we make faces and perform monkey tricks to entertain our grandchildren for the final 10 years.

Getting better ? I think so . .

I'm not pissed off at him for moving in. I just dun like this type of arrangement where I dun have a choice to say "No!" to him. People will say that I'm not compassionate enough. I will feel guilt as well for if he doesn't have a place to sleep. Overall, I'm not the mastermind and I dun have a word since he is so money minded.

I dun like this feeling.

Money is important to lots of human being, With money, u can do a lot, without money, you can't do a lot. BUT MONEY IS NOT EVERYTHING.

Some time I wonder how a woman think ? A woman here is refer to someone who never went out to work, get cheated by some auntie from wet market, spent lots of $ on un-necessary items and yet no lesson has been learnt.

I really shock when I heard she spent about 100K for just 2 year or so ... average $6k a month for household expense .. that is more like shopping rather than just eating.

I being to believe that die is an relief from this earth, now I know why my dad want to die (he always say that), but we can't bear to let him go, we love him so much... he is still young ... not even carry a grandson yet.

How I wish to fulfill his wish as well.

Should I ?

Should I really move / upgrade to a bigger HDB flat ?  I'm staying in a 3 room HDB flat (2 small bedroom only).

Me and my dear are sleeping in the master bedroom, and the other room is been used for study and my work place. Out of sudden ... there is a person move in and stay with us without notifications.

A House to me is a very personal space that I can put myself at ease. So that I can dress down, relax, do anything I want. But out of sudden have someone move in ... It really makes me very uncomfortable and have to put myself very alert at home again.

Even I want to talk louder or wear lesser at home also cannot.

I very piss off.

Tired

I'm tired, very tired. Not only physically is tired, but also mentally and spiritually.

I duno how to put into english words for people to understand, cause I'm will just write what come across my mind now.

I want to let go of it, let go of the burden and things that is on my shoulder. Some how, I prefer to be alone with my wife only that no one can disturb our quiet world. But at the same time, I cannot just dun care of others unhappiness, worry and wants to give them a hand. But yet I scare of involving myself too much that cause hurt on me.

There is no one to blame except myself. So I dun blame. .. ..

I told my darling, if one of the this dates when I'm so ill, pleaseeeeeeee... dun cry, let me go in peace, smile at last night and celebrate for me please.

I want to sleep, I'm sleepy and too tired. . .

Nonya Ba Chang

I love Nonya Ba Chang from this company which their URL is http://www.kimchoo.com.sg

Why ? Because I can smell the faint, fragrant scent of the pandan leaves before I sink my teeth in it. The filling is made up of finely chopped lean meat (oh.. pls. . it is lean meat .. not the fat meat) that tastes like meat floss in my mouth.

Thanks to my Executive Director for buying all of us this Nonya Ba Chang from KimChoo.

:)

Btw, this is my dinner for tonight.

Are you drinking the right tea?

Are you drinking the right tea?

1. People who use their "brain" to work or students who study hard day
and night --- should drink more chrysanthemum Tea.

2. People who need a lot of body energy to work or those people that do
a lot of exercise everyday --- should drink Wu Loong Tea.

3. People who travel on a bike or work in dirty and polluted places ---
should drink Green Tea.

4. For people who likes to sit down all day long and not doing anything
even exercising --- must drink Green Tea and Flower Tea.

5. People who smoke and drink alot of alcoholic drinks --- should drink
more Green Tea.

6. People who must eat meat at least once a day, or feel sick or not
feeling well --- try to drink some Wu Loong Tea.

7. People who go to the washroom too often or too less --- should drink
more Honey Tea

8. People with high cholesterol and high blood pressure --- Wu Loong
Tea,Green Tea.

9. Those who work with computers everyday --- need to drink a lot of Tea
(any tea wil do).

Whenever you are working with the computer, you should make some tea,
drink it when you are free. Drinking Tea is healthy, it can protect and
prevent the harmful Ultraviolet light from harming us (when using
computer). Furthermore, it can also cure us when we are tired and help
making our body feel fresh again.

some tips on cheaper Feng Shui - Part 6-11

6) Cheaper ways to enhance career:

a) Hang picture of mountain behind where you sit at work. If you can't afford to buy the painting, get it from internet or draw it yourself (mountain picture is not too difficult to draw).
b) 8 pa kua aspirations- activate N to enhance career. If you can't afford aquarium, hang picture of fishes or waterfall at the area. Again, the picture can be downloaded from the internet.
c) If you can't afford to buy brass dragon tortoise and place it at north, you can opt for the resin one.

7) Cheaper ways to enhance relationship:

a) Flying star- always choose a bedroom with good mountain star, preferably mountain star 8.
b) Place crystal/boulder at mountain star 8- if you can't afford to buy crystal or jade/diamond boulder, use rocks instead. (Rocks can be collected free from seaside..etc).
c) Or hang a picture of mountain at mountain star 8- (draw the picture of your own or get it from internet if you can't afford to buy the picture).

8) Cheaper ways to enhance study luck/inspirations:

a) Sit facing and sleep with head pointing to growth/Fu wei direction.
b) If you can't afford to buy crystal globe and place it at study table, you can buy 7 level pagoda made of clay or porceline. Cheaper than crystal globe.

9) Cheaper ways to enhance fame:

a) Activate South area- If you can't afford to buy a lamp and light up the area, use candle lights instead.
b) If you can't afford to buy horse figurine, you can use picture of phoenix and place it south. The picture can get from internet or scan from book.

10) Cheaper ways to enhance happiness:

a) Speak, think, do, and hear no evil.
b) Helping people (it can be in a form of small donations or helping people with problems).
c) Filiel Piety
d) Practice virtues.

11) Cheaper ways to enhance good chi:

a) Make sure that the the chi meanders and not moving in a straight line. If you have doors in straight lines, block the middle with a board.
b) Space clearing- if you can't afford to buy the singing bowl/bell, burn incense instead.

Practice feng shui does not mean we need to spend a lot of money on it. It is up to our own wisdom and creativity to make our feng shui not only effective but cost-saving as well.

some tips on cheaper Feng Shui - Part 1-5

1) Feng shui that does not cause a single cent at all:

c) Do not sit/sleep under toilet/bathroom.
d) Do not sleep with feet pointing towards door.
e) Do not share a wall with toilet/bathroom when sleeping.
f) Always sit/sleep with solid wall/background.
g) Do not sit with door at the back.
h) Use an auspicious door for entrance (ex: If your house have two entrances, choose one that is better accoridng to kua number. (west group people should use west-group doors (W,NW,NE,SW) while East group people should use east group door (E,SE,S,N).
i) Do not eat too near the main entrance (wealth tend to seep away)
j) Remove mirrors from bedroom

2) To overcome annual afflictions:

a) 5 yellow- if you can't afford to buy 6 rod hollow metal windchime, use 6 I-ching coins tied with red/gold ribbon instead to hang it at 5 yellow area. I-ching coins are cheaper than windchime.

But if really do not have money, place moving objects such as electrical fan at water star 8.
d) 8 pa kua aspirations- Place plants at SE to enhance wealth. If you can't afford to buy plants, get it from roadside (hehe..just joking, not auspicious to steal), you can grow the plants instead. Buying seeds is cheaper than buying grown plants.

5) Cheaper ways to enhance love:

a) Sit facing and sleep with head pointing to nien yen/love direction.

b) Activate SW corner- If you can't afford to buy lamp, use candle lights instead to light up the area.

c) Mandarin ducks at SW- If you can't afford to buy the crystal made mandarin ducks, buy the wooden one.

d) Paint SW with red/pink- If you can't afford to buy paint, use red/pink cloth instead. Cover the table with red/pink cloth and put it at SW area. You can also place the mandarin ducks on top of it.

Essential Tools For Marriage That Works

Marriage is a lifelong process of living with your partner and enriching your relationship with each other.  It is expected that marriage will have its ups and downs.

An understanding of marital responsibilities is a key ingredient to a successful marriage.  To develop a meaningful marital relationship, couples need to know themselves, their partners and learn to grow together.
  • Communication - Effective communication reinforces a marital relationship.  We need to express our thoughts and feelings as much as we want attention and responses. So we can't shutup all the time and keep quiet.
  • Family Relationship - With the rapid changes in the modern world, we should clarify what we expect from each other and develop a style of working together. And do remember the promise that make, doesn't mean after a year or so, you can forgotten about it.
  • Financial Management - How we handle money revels the kind of lifestyle we aspire to attain and the values we hold.  Each of us are likely to have individual differences in the way we handle our $. Having a combined saving account and come to a common agreement level is important. Because money could be the cause of divorce.
  • Relationship Development - To develop a meaningful relationship as a married couple, we need to know ourself as well as our partner in order for the both of us to learn to grow together.
  • Sex in Marriage - Sexual intimacy is more than physical closeness; it  is an emotional adventure, an exploration, and a process of discovery.  A secure marital relationship helps us to learn about each other sexually. Dun give excuse just becuase we work too tired in office or "I prefer in the morning...not night" and you need to off the house before 7 am.
So do you know why I copy this paragraph from some website ?

ARIES MALE

ARIES MALE

When it comes to love you are aggressive, domineering, energetic and restless. You are impulsive, imaginative and dynamic, a doer, however on can never be sure what you'll do next. You can drive your lover crazy if she isn't accustomed to high energy excitement. You look for spontaneous and imaginative partners who can hold your interest and keep up to your fast pace. You can be a bed bouncer but you always expect complete loyalty from your mate. Although your temper is short lived you will explode if you become suspicious of your lover. You get jealous quickly and you need constant appreciation and reassurance in order to feel secure in your relationship.

ARIES MATE

You will not tolerate being bossed around by your mate. You hate have your space infringed upon and you can't stand it if your mate shows up late for a date. You like to be asked for advice and flattery always makes you feel important. You will never slow down and wait for your lover. It's keep up or get left behind. You match up to your sign and the remaining eleven signs as follows.

ARIES & ARIES: Temper tantrums are quite likely to erupt into major wars with this combination. Remember only one party can win and neither one will accept defeat. Passionate but problems.

ARIES & TAURUS: The Bull has trouble with your free spirited attitude. With compromise it can work. A little bit dull for you at times however it can be a stabilizing experience for you.

ARIES & GEMINI: Wonderful alliance. This is an exciting, sexual encounter that can in fact last. Both you and Gemini are so spontaneous and full of life that there is no time for either of you to become bored.

ARIES & CANCER: The Crab is far too sensitive and slow for your speedy and hot tempered nature. You will have difficulty listening to the Crabs nagging and negativity. This is really a poor match up right from day one.

AIRES & LEO: This is a most exhilarating combination. You both share the same likes and dislikes. You are both always on the go, craving excitement, love and fun. This is truly a link made in heaven.

ARIES & VIRGO: Your impulsiveness is just too much for the Virgoan. Virgo's practical, critical nature will drive you away rapidly. This is a relationship better left alone.

ARIES & LIBRA: Although opposites attract, the Scales are just a little too lazy to keep up with you. You on the other hand lack the sophistication required to keep a Libran happy.

ARIES & SCORPIO: You are both ruled by the catalyst Mars that makes this union hot and heavy. The possessive Scorpio will, however, does clash with your free spirited nature.

ARIES & SAGITTARIUS: This can be a good and a lasting relationship. You are both fun-loving and quite oblivious to the faults that might drive most people crazy. This is an exciting and adventurous union.

ARIES & CAPRICORN: Finances are the biggest detriment in this connection. You can spend it as fast as the hard working Goat can make it that drives the frugal Capricorn insane.

ARIES & AQUARIUS: This is not a bad connection. You are both inquisitive, however at times you may find it difficult to contemplate what the Water-bearer will do next.

ARIES & PISCES: Sexually this is not a bad alliance, but your temperaments are just so different that it does put a strain on the relationship. You could never handle the Fishes emotional whims for any length of time.

So do you think I'm Aries ?

FRIDAY'S TREATS

A nun, who badly needed to use a restroom, walked into a local bar. The place was hopping with music and loud conversation, and every once in awhile the lights would turn off. Each time the lights went out, the place would erupt into cheers.

However, when everyone saw the nun arrive, the room went quiet.

She walked up to the bartender and asked if she could use the restroom. The bartender said, "Okay, sister, but I should warn you that there's a statue of a naked man in there wearing only a fig leaf."

"Well," she said, "I will just have to look the other way."

So the bartender showed the nun to the back of the bar and she proceeded to the ladies' room.

After a few minutes, she came out and the whole place gave her a round of applause. Startled, she approached the bartender and said, "Sir, I don't understand why they applauded me for using the restroom."

"They know you're one of us, sister," smiled the bartender, "would you like a drink?"
I still don't understand," said the nun.

The bartender laughed. "Well, every time the fig leaf on the statue is lifted up, the lights go out! Now, how about that drink?"

Writing Resume

Recently, my darling and I started to update my resume and looking our value in the current labour market. I come across an article that posted in the Employment Town of Singapore.

Helpful Information for Your Job Search : Resume Writing Tips

To seize new opportunities at today's workplaces, having a well-written resume that is always ready is an important part of career action plan. A convincing resume is fundamental in attracting your potential employer's attention. Here are some tips to help you in your resume writing.

What is a resume?
A resume is a selected summary of significant facts about yourself. A resume doesn't present everything there is to be known about you. It presents selected significant facts and it serves them up in a neatly packaged summary. To write a resume, you need to know which facts about yourself are significant to a prospective employer. You need to know how to summarise them so that your next employer can see quickly why you are the right person for the job. And you need to know how to present them on paper in a concise manner.

What do resumes do?
Strictly speaking, resumes don't get jobs. Resumes get interviews. And interviews get jobs. You won't get an interview without a resume. And you won't get a job offer without an interview. But the resume is the first step to a job.

How to write a good resume?

Before you start writing your resume, it is essential that you have before you a complete and detailed summary of your education and experience. You should be aware of your aptitudes, abilities, strengths, and weaknesses, as well as interests.

Plan for at least a week and you may have to do several re-writes before your resume will be ready

Remember that you are competing with others with your resume. It is worth an effort to produce the best version you can.

Seek the opinions of others about your merits for what you have in mind

If you are too modest in describing your attributes, your application may be passed over. It is the time to boast politely and honestly

Ask at least two people to check over your final draft.

When you think you have produced the best version, be patient. Sleep on it. Read it again the next day before submitting it.

Dos & Dont
DO!

Highlight your strengths
You probably know the saying "If you've it, flaunt it." This is certainly true on your resume. Your prospective employer should be able to see quickly what you have to offer.

Structure your resume like a pyramid
The most important things about you should be near the top. There is no formula that you have to follow in assembling the component parts of your resume, but you should start with your best features.

Be sure your resume is easy to read
If your resume is jammed with words, difficult to follow, or badly laid out on the page, no one is going to take the time to read it - even if you are a great job candidate.

Keep your sentences short
Start as many as you can with "action words"

Help your readers know what to read
Use boldface type. Use plenty of "white space" between points to make each point stand out.

Support your objective
If you have a career objective, be sure that your resume shows clearly why you are qualified for the job you are seeking.

Keep your resume to one or two pages
Most employers don't want to read more than two pages. They will read more if you are an incredibly experienced person with terrific credentials, but two-page resumes are safe.

Answer the one question that every employer asks.
Your resume must address the question that is in the employer's mind: "What can this person do for me?" If your resume can answer that question, you can get an interview - and an interview can land you a job.

DON'T!

Don't lie.
You can never make a lie work in your favour. Don't stretch the truth too far either - it will break!

Don't write long sentences
Remember that your resume will be read quickly so make it readable.

Don't put more than four lines together in one "block"
If you have more than four short lines, you are probably trying to say too much. Divide a long block of text into two points.

Don't be vague
Be as specific as possible. Include facts and figures wherever you can.

Don't include information that is not relevant to an employer
There is a good rule to follow in evaluating whether or not something is relevant: "If in doubt, leave it out."

Don't list a reference unless you have the person's permission
Of course, it's important too to know that you will get a positive recommendation!

Part I ~ end here ... next post will talk about Resume

What is luck

I come across this article and thought it would be good to share with everyone.

The below text is very interesting. I suppose all of us know deep down about this fact but perhaps its just one of our numerous blind spots in life?

Why do some people get all the luck while others never get the breaks they deserve? A psychologist says he has discovered the answer.

Subject: The luck factor!
By Professor Richard Wise man, University of Hertfordshire

Ten years ago, I set out to examine luck. I wanted to know why some people are always in the right place at the right time, while others consistently experience ill fortune.

I placed advertisements in national newspapers asking for people who felt consistently lucky or unlucky to contact me. Hundreds of extraordinary men and women volunteered for my research and, over the years, I have interviewed them, monitored their lives and had them take part in experiments.

The results reveal that although these people have almost no insight into the causes of their luck, their thoughts and behavior are responsible for much of their good and bad fortune.

Take the case of seemingly chance opportunities. Lucky people consistently encounter such opportunities, whereas unlucky people do not.

I carried out a simple experiment to discover whether this was due to differences in their ability to spot such opportunities. I gave both lucky and unlucky people a newspaper, and asked them to look through it and tell me how many photographs were inside.

I had secretly placed a large message halfway through the newspaper saying:

"Tell the experimenter you have seen this and win #250."

This message took up half of the page and was written in type that was more than two inches high.

It was staring everyone straight in the face, but the unlucky people tended to miss it and the lucky people tended to spot it. Unlucky people are generally more tense than lucky people, and this anxiety disrupts their ability to notice the unexpected. As a result, they miss opportunities because they are too focused on looking for something else.

They go to parties intent on finding their perfect partner and so miss opportunities to make good friends. They look through newspapers determined to find certain types of job advertisements and miss other types of jobs. Lucky people are more relaxed and open, and therefore see what is there rather than just what they are looking for.

My research eventually revealed that lucky people generate good fortune via four principles.

They are skilled at creating and noticing chance opportunities, make lucky decisions by listening to their intuition, create self-fulfilling prophesies via positive expectations, and adopt a resilient attitude that transforms bad luck into good.

Towards the end of the work, I wondered whether these principles could be used to create good luck. I asked a group of volunteers to spend a month carrying out exercises designed to help them think and behave like a lucky person. These exercises helped them spot chance opportunities, listen to their intuition, and expect to be lucky, and be more resilient to bad luck.

One month later, the volunteers returned and described what had happened. The results were dramatic: 80% of people were now happier, more satisfied with their lives and, perhaps most important of all, luckier. The lucky people had become even luckier and the unlucky had become lucky. Finally, I had found the elusive "luck factor".

Here are Professor Wise man's four top tips for becoming lucky:

  1. Listen to your gut instinct -they are normally right.
  2. Be open to new experiences and breaking your normal routine.
  3. Spend a few moments each day remembering things that went well.
  4. Visualize yourself being lucky before an important meeting or telephone call. Luck is very often a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Men Are Hard To Please

If u TREAT him nicely, he says u are IN LOVE with him; If u Don't, he says u are PROUD.
If u DRESS Nicely, he says u are trying to LURE him; If u Don't, he says u are from KAMPUNG.
If u ARGUE with him, he says u are STUBBORN; If u keep QUIET, he says u have no BRAINS.
If u are SMARTER than him, he'll lose FACE; If he's Smarter than u, he is GREAT.
If u don't Love him, he tries to POSSESS u; If u Love him, he will try to LEAVE u.(very true huh?)
If u don't make love with him., he says u don't Love him; If u do!! he says u are CHEAP.
If u tell him your PROBLEM, he says u are TROUBLESOME; If u don't, he says that u don't TRUST him.
If u SCOLD him, u are like a NANNY to him; If he SCOLDS u, it is because he CARES for u.
If u BREAK your PROMISE, u Cannot be TRUSTED; If he BREAKS his, he is FORCED to do so.
If u SMOKE, u are BAD girl;If he SMOKES, he is GENTLEMENT.
If u do WELL in your exams, he says it's LUCK; If he does WELL, it's BRAINS.

Don't loose the 90%

How true but it is only human to look for what we don't have...

Adultery happens when you start looking for what you don't have.

"Wow, this girl in my office is a real looker. I'm crazy about her because she's also understanding, intelligent, tender - so many things that my spouses not."

Somewhere along the way, you'll find a woman or a man who will be more charming or sensitive. More alluring. More thoughtful. Richer. Have greater sex appeal.

And you will find a man who will need you and pursue you and go loco over you more than your spouse ever did.

Because no wife or husband is perfect. Because a spouse will only have 90% of what you're looking for. So adultery takes place when a husband or wife looks for the missing 10%.

Let's say your wife is melancholic by nature. You may find yourself drawn to the pretty clerk who has a cherry laughter. Or because your wife is a homebody in slippers and pajamas, smelling of garlic and fish oil, you may fall for a fresh-smelling young sales representative that visits your office in a sharp black blazer, high heels, and a red pencil-cut skirt.

Or because your husband is the quiet type, your heart may skip a beat when you meet an old college flame that has the makings of a talk show host.

But wait! That's only 10% of what you don't have. Don't throw away the 90% that you already have! Add to your spouse's 90% the 10% that represents all the years that you have been with each other. The storms you have weathered together. The unforgettable moments of sadness and joy as a couple. The many adjustments you have made to love the other. The wealth of memories that you've accumulated as lovers.

Adultery happens when you start looking for what you don't have. But faithfulness happens when you start thanking God for what you already have.

But I'm not just talking about marriage. I'm talking about your life. About your jobs. About your friends. About your children. About your lifestyles. Are you like the economy airline?

The main message:

If you start appreciating what you have right now, wherever you are it is FIRST CLASS!

Jelousy Test.. ..??

Most people experience a certain amount of fear that their loved one could leave them for someone else. After all, these things happen, and when they do, it is usually very painful. You, on the other hand, appear to have a complete lack of jealous feelings. If you were honest with yourself while taking the test, this means that you are extremely secure, strong, and independent. You know that if your partner ever leaves you, you will survive with your self-esteem and dignity intact. You realize that even though you might love your partner very much, s/he is not the only fish in the sea, and that you would eventually find happiness with someone else.

A quiz to test for your jealousy. Hope you are not a green eye monster all the time.

"Things Change, People Change"

Many things around our life are changing all the time, whether it is for the better or for the worse

Marriage requires commitment. A commitment to make it work. It does not take only one person to make it work, it takes two.

"Marrying someone you dun love most" might be a regret in one's life. But how many people in the world really does marry one whom he or she really love most ?

"In real life, the person you love most, might change." You might find someone you love more than the person you love most as time pass by. Does it mean you are going to regret later.... Think about it
Sometimes, people call this "fate"

If every single person on earth is not able to find someone whom they love the most, Does it mean marriage is never going to happen?

Getting married to someone who you love but not the most, might not be a bad thing....
Marrying someone you dun love at all - that is worse

If you love a person and is committed to be with him/her, marriage will work out and he/she might become the peron you love most over time.

"Thing change, people change"
Nobody can tell what lies for you tomorrow...
Enjoy the process...
If you love someone, never take him/her for granted...

This is what i always believe....
A marriage or any relationship will last if a couple
"Never take each other for granted"

I love my wife, that is simple and nothing more complicated.

Holiday Trip

Me and my wife is planning a short getaway from this small island. Together with my colleague and her boyfriend is joining us for a 2D/1N trip in this bigger island in Indonesia, Batam.

Hope on that day the currency exchange rate will be better so that we can have cheaper lobster, seafood and beer.

Do come back next week to see some photo shots that taken by my Minolta F300 5.0 MegaPixel camera.

Changes Take Place :0

Life getting not better beacuse of GDP, people's attitude changes because you grow fatter, salary getting thinner because economy is not good.

All this small and big change take place around us very quickly and sometime you dun ever notice that. Some time it is because of our fault, but some time it is because some one grows up or grows old. Like me, a bit sian of shopping and walking along orchard road, prefer to have nice meal at home either lunch or dinner with friends or colleague.

Althought still have 1 years ++ then say goodbye to 20, but my heart in certain area still playful and never change. I still prefer to sit in front of my computer and do my favour things, PLAY COMPUTER GAMES.

Just remember, every days there is change but there is some thing that last forever if you have the heart to maintain it, it is possible to have it forever lasting, I mean friendship.

I have friends who are close to me, seeing everyday and I really treat them like bully, good friend, best friend and a friend that they will lay their life down for you. But in the end, they backstab you when trouble take place, they speak ill of you when they got nothing to do in office. ....me come back later. Got things to do again...so tired.

I'm an Aries, therefore:

DO'S

Aries are naturally active and vibrant people and they tend to like such people too. You will have to increase your pace to be in step with them. They like and appreciate frank and straightforward persons. With them you can be your true self (but don't try your luck being over frank-they are volatile). If you are in love with an Arien, then you have to show your enthusiasm in all their activities (you can always yawn later!).

DON'TS

Do not tell an Aries that s/he may be wrong. Any such statement may stir a storm in a teacup. Aries are very faithful and passionate lovers. Do not give air to the smouldering fire within them by making them jealous. No flirtation or fooling around with others in their presence unless of course you wish to write your death wish (you will be granted!).

First issue::
Today when I submit my report to my CFO, he wants me to announce in the email to everyone that this guy so and so didn't shut down his computer last evening, and if repeats on the next time, his name is going to be on the notice board + 40% pay cut.

Second issue::
Regards to the blocking of game sites for the staff, the matter is getting hotter as I have to report to their direct manager and my GM as well. But me and my GM didn't want the CFO or Deputy MD to know about this. If not, more than 8-10 staff will penalise and I will get curse and swear behind me.

Third issue::
Totally no mood to write at the moment, have another evaluation report to write and submit to my GM and MD.

Bye!

Finally, I manage to learn Cisco Configurating with one of the vendor. Lesson one is ...how to access Cisco router by using a Linux system via console (cable connection).

Lesson one detail is learn how to apply Access Control List - means to block what traffic can come in and go out. So I manage to block all staff from surfing a popular website call NeoPet.

Quite happy after many days of research, but in the middle of configuring, some hicaps and cause all internet connection to be down. But I gain some experience.

Hurray....can't wait 6:30 pm to arrive.

July 01, 2003

From today onward, I can't go home promptly. Dun ask me the reason why cause you know the situation in Singapore at the moment.

Pay cut is across the board 15% and working hour has adjusted from 9am to 6:30pm (30 mins. more instead of 6pm), 5 day work.

I dun feel sad about work, I feel sad about my life. Why I end up paying debts to live my life going on and getting this type of pay while having a degree paper and 6 years working experience. My mood has been very down for this few weeks. I dun feel like toking to anyone, just feel frustrated at people in the work place.

June 20, 2003

North East Train just started today, eager to try out but second thought of it.....dun try out during weekday. What if train jam or technical error like LRT in West area, I will be late for work and deduct salary.

Anyway, here I provide a link to check the price of this NE Line.

Found a Nutrition Website that hosted locally and a lot of useful information. For example, it can calulate our Body Mass Index, Waist-Hip Ratio, Calorie Calculator and daily activity calories that it burns.

So, here is the URL http://www.nutrition.com.sg.

By the way, I was discussing whether or not to have baby at this moment, but second and third thought of it, we decided to push it 2 years later. When we are in a better finanical status 'cause we dun wish the baby to suffer like us. Morever, we still want to have more freedom like now.

June 13, 2003

Hurray !!!! Friday again, I'm organising a small gathering between some of my close colleague at a small pub located at Mohd Sultan, follow by bringing them to my favour wine bar at Roberston Walk. If we manage to capture some pix. Will post in my newly add section located at right side of my blog.

Wonder what should I drink with a budget of $30 for tonight.

June 09, 2003

After 2 day 1 nite (Sat and Sunday) never sleep, I'm finally sick. I didn't did it on purpose but there is something bothering me from sleeping and now finally I cannot take it and got sore throat now. Normal cough, flu, running nose and slight fever. But temperature starts to drop to 36.3 in the afternoon (after lunch). Well, will post a section of gallery by the right side of my blog. So, stay tune with me.

June 08, 2003

Time now is 2:10 A.M. I still couldn't get to sleep, I duno what is the reason that bother me for not turning into the bed. Even I lie on the bed my mind still cannot rest.

Althought I have started work for 1 week but I still couldn't figure what am I doing in office. What is my goal ? Should I replan my career and change another path ?

There is a say In Chinese, Woman scare to marry the wrong man and man scare to choose the wrong career path.

I believe I'm in this stage now.

June 02, 2003

After 9 day of no-pay leave and rest at home, I have come back to office to resume my work. At this moment, my heart is struggling, should I stick to this job or get another more challenging job which in return of better payoff. The job that available is a totally new thing to me, not a teacher, not a NF-SAF, not a manager but as a planner in the manufacturing industry.

Yes. For the past 6 years, I was in IT Industry all the while, from Technical Support to Programmer, to Web Master and now as IT Executive in Travel line. Reason for such thinking is prospect, I dun see much prospect as a IT Executive in the current line. Cause doesn't have much for me to explore (after 9 months over here).

Problem is not that I can't learn but is can I fullfill the job requirement and I like the job? The working hour is from 8 am to 6pm but maybe extend to 12am or even 4 am due to TimeZone differ.

I really need to think again, dun wan to choose a wrong path and waste all effort down to the drain.

When u step into a shower, which part of the body do you wash first?

Please select a body first?

A. Chest
B. Face
C. Armpits
D. Hair
E. Privates
F. Shoulders
G. Others

A. Chest:
You are a practical person. Straightforward and do not beat around the bush. To you, convenience is of paramount importance. You hate to be distracted when concentrating and are impatient with people who do not see things your way. A good sex partner and willing to try new things. Your best partner in life will be those who choose D (Hair).

B. Face:
Money is important to you and you will do anything to get it. Integrity and dignity is not important. You feel that friends are there to be used and life is one big hassle. Other people find it hard to understand you, but you are not concerned as to what they think. Very self-centered person. Average sex partner as too selfish and tend to be absorbed in self pleasure at the expense of your partner. Your best partner in life will be those who choose E (Privates) and G (Others).

C. Armpits:
You are a dependable and hard working person. Generally very popular person as you are very down to earth and willing to help others. Tend to get yourself into trouble as you cannot tell whether people are genuine towards you. Make very poor sex partners as you are the working type with average talent. Your best partner in life will be those who choose F (Shoulders).

D. Hair:
Artistic type. Daydreaming is your hobby, but you can achieve what most other people cannot. Dedication is lacking, but you will work tirelessly towards goals which are to your liking. Money is not important. Friends are but only intellectuals and fellow artistic types. Make the best sex partners as you are most willing to explore and please ther other partner. Talent is your main strength. Your best partner in life will be those who chose A (Chest) and E (Privates).

E. Privates:
Shy type. You lack self confidence and tend to be bullied by others. You do not have lots of friends as others find you boring and unattractive. Perserverance is not your strength and you tend to give up easily and at the first opportunity. However, you make an above average sex partner. You are able to show your true emotions to very
few people. Hence in sex, you find your inner strengths. Your best sex partner in life will be those who choose B (Face) and D (Hair).

F. Shoulder:
A born loser. You fail in everything that you do. People dislike you and you tend to spend your time alone. Your type have been known to be heavy gamblers and drinkers. You see the world as a livin hell. Money and power is also important to you. But your luck will always fail you. You make a lousy sex partner. You will find it difficult to
find a partner in life. Those who choose C (Armpits) are your only chance.

G. Others:
You are a very average person. Undoubtedly, you have your inner strengths, but people find it hard to see. You must learn to be a little bit more adventurous and see your potential. Deep down, you are very likeable person with very few faults. However, the key will be to make your strengts stand out and not just hide you weaknessess. You
are an average sex partner. You have great fantasies about different techniques, but unfortunately are not brave enough to try them out. Your best partner in life will be those who choose B (Face).

So tell me what is you choice ?

Woman woman woman ...they are also a headache to the management when there is too many women in a office. This is the sceniro:

One woman by the name of VK, suppose to be on 24hr duty service and collect the laptop from office during the last weekend. When she come back on Monday, assume me in charge of laptop and throw in on my table (of course I ignore her).
Today is Friday, another woman by the name of HL, is her turn to be answering service from tonite until next Monday. And she heard from VK say that the laptop is spoil and cannot be use. She came to me and ask how to use if the laptop is spoil. Without a second thought, I ask her to turn on the laptop and try out first before conclude that it is out of service and it turns out to be perfectly fine.

She jump to the GM's room and complain that VT give wrong information and blah blah blah ...both woman being to shout at one another until my GM's face turn color.....

Sigh ~ ~ lucky there is only old man in the management team, if not World War III will starts in my office.

May 08, 2003

Today my body temperature is 37.1 ....if I drink hot hot tea ..i can kang for MC and rest at home to sleep more. Out of sudden, i feel so tried and stress out by works.

Sian ...next week even more sian. Some of my office auntie asking me to join them for Californa Gym. And they will pay for me. Even asking me to go for KTV in the afternoon......see first lah.

May 06, 2003

Prepare to plan for next week program so that I can be occupied thru out the week. Wonder if Rykiel is free to come to my place for R&R session .....maybe should organise a gathering during the Vesak Day or weekend so that do more meaning thing to Little Chantelle. Rite ?
